The Icelandic Music Awards

The Icelandic Music Awards is a festival where the musicians and composers in the Icelandic music scene receives worthy attention for their work during the year. The Icelandic Music Awards is also a good opportunity to promote Icelandic music to Icelanders, and also to listeners abroad, and thus increase sales and publicity. 

Icelandic Music Awards for the Year 2018 Awarded in Harpa 

GDNR was the star of the show and the true winner of the Icelandic Music Awards this time around. She got four awards all in total; Pop Album of the Year for Hvað ef, as Singer of the Year in the Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and Electronic category, for Pop Song of the Year for Lætur Mig and finally she got awards for her video for the same song, Lætur mig. Pretty good results for GDRN and her debut album!

Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson, also had some very good results as he got two awards, one for the best album in classical music – where he plays Johann Sebastian Bach, and he was also awarded the music performer of the year in the classical section.

Icelandic Eurovision winners Hatari was voted the best music performers of the year in the Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and Electronic group.

Valdemar got two awards, one for the Rock Album of the Year and Valdimar Guðmundsson was also the winner of Singer of the Year inPop, Rock, Hip Hop and Electronic category. JóiPé x Króli did the Rapp/Hip Hop Album of the Year with Afsakið Hlé and also won the best song with Í átt að tunglinu,
